Busy, busy, busy...

That is what it has been here for the last week... everything seemed to come together all at once! Phew, I'm glad that week is over and hopefully this week will be a bit more relaxed!

Weather was beautiful on the weekend, and we did dad's garden - or I should say dad worked on his garden, we just helped with the shopping for plants. He knows better than to trust me in there becuase I'm known to pull the flowers and leave the weeds!!! Anyways it should be interesting in that he is off to Europe for 3 weeks as of tomorrow - to see the family (son, grandchildren, his mom etc) there, and we are left in charge here at home! He's already given Laci a list of instructions of what needs to be done still outside, as well as for the plants etc here in the house. We should be okay, its just I get a little nervous when he leaves like this for so long, so that we don't actually end up killing something! I haven't yet, but the thought is never far from my mind!

We had a lovely mother's day yesterday - went to see mom at the cemetery, and we had a family gathering of sorts - my brother and his whole family were there as well at the same time. It was nice. We haven't all been together like that out there, since I believe either the funeral (4 years ago) or when mom's new headstone was put in place which was about 2-3 years ago. We found daisies and we even found purple daisies, so that is what Laci and I took. Her stone looks so nice right now with the two bouquets of real flowers (as opposed to the silk ones we usually have out due to weather). Afterwards, the family came over for dinner and we celebrated mother's day a little more as well as one of my nephew's birthday's - since Dad will be gone on the official day. It was really a great day overall, and the visit with family was nice and relaxed too.

Onto stitching news... last week I worked on a couple of small projects, as I needed some instant gratification of finishing something, and I did... I finished 2 (or 5) small projects, depending on how you look at it. I finished up a small kit of a blackwork kitty, but I changed the filling stitches in the kitty as I didn't like the way it orignally looked, and then I finished off the 4 seasonal freebies from Trail Creek Farm, as I did all 4 of them, but as one project, that is where the either 2 or 5 comes in... I also went to a stitch in on Saturday night, and took the wedding piece along to stitch there. I made a little progress on it, so I'm happy.

Blogger isn't cooperating, so I can't post actual pictures, but I have included links for you to see them all. This week, I have to work on some obligation stitching, that I've sort of been putting off. I have to stitch a prototype and I'm still not sure how or where to start, but it needs to be done, becuase I need to see how long each one will take and then if the people I'm stitching like it, we can go from there.

Q:When you stitch from a kit and use the supplied floss do you haveleftovers? If so, how much and what do you do with them? If not, doyou usually have just enough or do you have to dig into your stash to finish?
A:I normally don't stitch from kits, though there are a few exceptions. When I have stitched kits, I use the floss in the kit, as I know it is more often than not regular DMC, or GAST etc. If I have leftovers I usually keep them together with the pattern, in the case I trade or give it away, and then the new owner will have a reference. If I know I won't trade it, I usually just toss the leftovers. So far (knock on wood) I haven't run out of floss in a kit yet! Its been close, but I haven run out.
