busy as a bee... tusals, wips and more...

Okay I have been missing in action from my blog, but that doesn't mean I haven't been productive... just lazy when it comes to posting...

Let's start with the tusal posts as today is our ort report day!

I took a picture for June, but didn't post here only on instagram... go figure... and I have today's picture to show off...

so here are my full ort jars in their glory!

June

July

So as you can see lots of stitching going on!

I have a few finishes to show, so I'll do those first and then my wips that I have going on...

First up is Love Cube by AAN - I made it into a wedding sampler for my nephew who is getting married at the end of the month.  It just needs to be ironed and stretched, as we already have the frame.

I stitched with Dmc 816, Nina's threads in old gold and raven on 32ct silver mist jobelan by Stephanie

Next up is Blue Village by Satsuma Street.  This is my first but not last stitch from this designer... love their whimsical and colourful designs.

I stitched on 32ct winter solstice jobelan by Stephanie using the called for threads.

Next up is the last finish to show, and also another first for me... My first ever stitch/finish of a Just Nan pattern.  I have a few Nan patterns in my stash, but until now I have never stitched any.  I really like the way this turned out.

I stitched it with the called for threads on 32ct pollywog Princess jobelan by Stephanie.

Next up a wip, and a couple of new starts...

I made some really good progress on my Cornwall Cottage Sampler, I won't say I can see the light at the end of the tunnel just yet, but it is getting closer!

Stitched on 32ct ivory jobelan with the called for Weeks threads.  As you can see, I've changed the alphabet part a little and centred the bottom line... I didn't want to add that "wrought by" box...once the basket is finished I will decide what to do with the two spaces at the beginning and end of that line... if I will just leave them blank, or  add some sort of motifs ...

I also have two new starts... I started Reflections of Canada by Ink Circles on Friday - July 1 - Canada Day.

I'm stitching it with DMC 815 on white jobelan... I am unsure of the count... I believe it to be 28 but when I checked it, it came to 25ct... however I don't ever remember owning 25ct fabric... so I really have no clue other than it is white...
I'm making pretty good progress on this, and love seeing all of the small details come to life...

My other new start is Mother's Honour Due by Blackbird Designs...

I am actually a bit further along on this pattern but this is my most up to date photo.  It is being stitched on ivory jobelan 32ct I believe, with threads from my stash.  Nina's threads: Hunter, Amber
GAST: claret, and Crescent Colors: peapod, wild berries.

I plan on personalizing it by adding not only my mom but my grandmothers names to it as well

Anyways, that is it for now... until next time happy stitching!

belated tusal

Here is my tusal for this past month... a few days late in posting

As you can see... I've done absolutely no stitching!  why you may ask?? There was nothing to show stitching wise as I was crocheting!  I made a few more infinity scarves, as Christmas gifts.  Here are my last two that I made.  I have one more to make and then that is it for a bit.

I do though have some stitching to show you, as I finally found the right beads for my Soffia by AAN
I finished the stitching a bit ago, but didn't have the right beads till now... I don't mind French knots, but not when there are that many to do... plus I think the beads give it more of an elegant look

This is Soffia by AAN, stitched on 32ct silvermist jobelan by Stephanie, using Nina's threads - Steel, Onyx and Spring Grass, mill hill beads 00081 and 02022

It is one of my favourite finishes this year.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas, and I would like to wish you all a wonderful new year!!

Till next time, happy stitching!

happy dance and some wips

Just thought I would show what I have been working on in the last couple of weeks...

I have a happy dance in that the blanket I was making for my other little nephew is complete too...

Here it is, as well as the two together:

Now that those are done and ready for Christmas, I'm working on some scarves for the ladies in my family...  I started the first one today... here is my progress:

It will be an infinity scarf once I'm done...

I also have some cross stitch wips to show... I'm almost done one of them, they are put on hold as I am waiting for the beads to arrive. I don't mind doing a few French knots but there are an awful lot in this one, and I would much rather switch them out for beads, as at least that way they will all be evenly sized!  It is AAN's Soffia, stitched on 32ct silvermist jobelan by Stephanie using Nina's threads

And my other wip is a blackwork freebie I found on the net... I just love the way it looks and how quickly it works up!

That's it for now! Till next time happy stitching!

ort report

I'm late, I'm late, for a very special date...  I'm here! I've made it! I'm here to post my ort report for this month... the new moon was Oct 23, I did manage to take the picture at the right time, just not post it.

Lots of dark coloured threads from my two recent happy dances that I shared in my last post, as well as some more dark threads from my current new wip... Soffia by AAN

My current wips were not calling my name, so I started something new. I'm enjoying it so far, I am stitching it on 32ct silvermist jobelan by Stephanie using Nina's threads.  I am planning on using beads for all the French knots in the piece.

other than that, I've got one more happy dance to share, this time a crochet one... I finished off another blanket, this time for my littlest great nephew... when he saw me making my purple one, he said he would like one too... and he picked cookie monster blue for his...
and since he gets a blanket, I can't leave his big brother out, so that is my newest crochet wip...  a blanket for him in his favourite colour - orange crush...

As you probably guessed, the two blankets will be mirror images of each other, so this one will have  the blue border.

That's it for now... till next time, happy stitching!

dancing up a storm...

Again, sorry for the disappearance, but again I have good reason... I've been stitching up a storm and have some finishes to show...

I finished my freebie heart done in all beads by AAN... I changed the word friendship in the centre to love and filled in some the extra empty space around it...

I also started another small one... Lizzie Kate's Forgive Quickly...   I stitched this one up on antique white 28ct jobelan using crescent colours wild berries thread (one of my favourite colours)

And last but not least, my biggest finish this month and one of my all time favourites... Fairy Moon by Mirabilia... I've added a couple of extra close ups... and please excuse the quality of them, they are phone pictures...

I've already got my next projects lined up, but I have to do some housekeeping with my threads first and put stuff away... once that is done I can finally see what I have and what I will still need for my next projects...

Till next time... happy stitching!

drive by update and tusal

Wow, where has the time gone!  I've been missing in action for almost a month!  Okay, part of it has been because I just haven't felt like blogging but the other reason is that I've been stitching!

Before I show off my progress pictures, I will post my TUSAL as that was due yesterday!  Here is my ort jar for this past month's stitching...

Lots of whites/light colours and purples in there, with just a hint of brown tossed in for good measure...

I finally managed to stitch a little bit on a Sunday, so I pulled out my Humbolt Coast and made a little progress on it!

I've also been focusing on two other pieces lately... a new start that I mentioned before and of course Fairy Moon!  Fairy Moon is close to the finish line as is the other piece, so I'm pushing both for two nice happy dances in the hopefully near future!

Here is Fairy Moon... I've already started beading her... I have some swirls and the moon left to do...

I'm just having a bit of a problem with her as her frame is huge! My hubby "fixed" my 17x17 qsnaps to make them just a bit bigger... they are closer to 19x19 now... and a bit unwieldy to use... but hopefully not much longer before she is done!

My new project is a freebie from AAN - friendship heart, except instead of just stitching it, I'm doing it all in beads... Here is a progress picture and a close up of the beads...

Anyways, that is it for me for now... I will try and not be such a stranger...

till next time... happy stitching!

sleepy shuffle

Having a semi late night happy dance here!  I just finished Girasole by AAN.  I stitched it on 32ct Kauri lugana by Kiwi Illusions, with DMC 972 and 730. I also used beads instead of French knots... I used mill hill 02105 for the yellow beads and 03014 for the green.

It is almost midnight here and it has been a long day, so I'm off to bed!

Till next time... happy stitching!

spring is blooming...

Just a quick post (as usual) on some stitching updates...and a little update from our garden... our lily of the valley are blooming and here is my first pick...  I made two smaller bouquets from this bunch pictured, one to sit here by my computer and one to sit by my stitching spot, so that no matter where I am I can see them and enjoy them, and their lovely fragrance!

Here is my sunflower by AAN... almost done the stitching... 2 1/2 petals to go and then the beads before a happy dance.

Also here is my Humbolt Coast... I managed to get a good bit of stitching in on Sunday... I love watching this one come to life!

another week, another post...

Where does the time go to?? It just seems to be flying over here!

Here is my latest update of my sunflowers.... I had to frog the one yellow petal as I totally stitched it in the wrong spot... and then I ran out of yellow floss except for one really long strand... so I continued with the green till I had a chance to go to Michael's to pick up some more...

Not the greatest of photos, I did take it with my phone, but it seems to take better pictures outside than inside... so please excuse the quality...

Sunday was also Humbolt Coast stitching time, and I managed to get lots done... another page down (okay another small one, but like last time, a page is a page)...

Here is my progress with this one... I would really like to keep stitching on this, but I'll be a good girl and go back to my sunflowers...

I'm really enjoying watching this come to life... I definitely see another Silver Lining chart in my future... I have a ton in my stash, but this is the first one ever that I have stitched!

Till next time... as always,  happy stitching!!!

catching up...

I'm not very creative with my post titles, but each time I come to post, my brain goes totally blank as to what to use as a title...

Oh well... you're here to see the stitching not the titles...

I finally managed to sit down and work on Humbolt Coast this Sunday... it was great to get back to it.  I managed to finish off another page... a small one... but a page nonetheless... I can now say I have 4 pages done! LOL!!!

Here is my progress... I managed to finally get some beach/sand going so the wave has something to crash onto...

I also managed to make some more progress on Girasole... I think I'll see how far I get on it this week, and then pick something else next week... I really would like to finally finish both Fairy Moon and the Last Supper but they really are not calling my name at the moment...

I digress... here is my progress of my sunflower...

That's it for now...

Till next time... happy stitching!

a new month

Wow, I can't believe it's May already! Where did April go???

I haven't been stitching very much, and definitely no stitching on the weekends, we have been busy... so no Humbolt Coast progress at all... or progress on any of my other wips..

I sort of lost my stitching mojo after my holidays and being sick - I managed to catch a cold on our last day of holidays... so to rectify things I decided to start a new project... I picked AAN Girasole. A lovely sunflower that just feels so springy...

Here is my progress from the last few weeks...

I'm stitching it on 32ct Kauri lugana by Kiwi Illusions (click here to see the fabric) using dmc 927 and 730. I changed the green as I didn't like the green called for. I prefer the darker more olive shades of green...

That's it for now... Till next time happy stitching
