hello march... where did february go???

Well I managed to drop the ball didn't I last month!  Where on earth did the time go? Where did the month disappear to??

I can't believe it is the first day of March already!

Anyways, astonishment aside... I have been busy... stitching... I just sort of forgot to come and post over here!

Let's just jump right in and start...  first of all tusal... the new moon was on the 27th so here is my Feb ort jar - all nice and full, as well as the year to date...

I've also been working on my Sunday SAL with Edith... and have been making some nice progress each week.  Here is Veronica with progress as of Feb 26

Being good, I haven't started any new projects just yet, though I will admit I do have several new starts planned... however, not just yet...  One I will start working on this month, but that is a commission work, so that I have to.  Here are my wips that I worked on through the month of February...

Summer Bouquet by Lanarte, I made a little more progress on it since the picture in my last post...

Then Mirabilia's Madonna of the Garden

and finally I worked on Long Dog's Death by Cross Stitch... I do have a little more done since this picture was taken, but not enough to warrant a new photo.

I also managed to finish off a crocheted blanket... stroller size... not quite sure who will get it, but I made it... I actually finished the blanket itself in January, but ran out of the purple yarn for the border... it just took me forever to get more! But I finally did, and here it is...

That's all I've got... I'm hoping that this month will be much better than February... it was a total bust for me in other aspects as well, not just blogging... the only thing that kept me sane was my stitching... and as you can see, I did lots of that!

Till next time.... happy stitching!

catching up...

It seems as of late that all I'm doing is catch up posts!  I love reading other people's blogs, I like my blog and I like posting, I've just gotten very lazy at it!

However enough of that, let's get on to the important stuff! Stitching and orts!

April's new moon has come and gone, it was on April 7.  As usual, I took my picture in time, but as you can guess.... I'm only posting it now...

Same set up as before... small jar is this month's contribution, big jar is the year to date.

I've also managed to have a couple of smaller happy dances since I last posted... I started and finished Pushing up the daisies by Raise the Roof Designs... I just need the actual daisy buttons that go along the fence. I know it is not to everyone's taste, but I like it and think it is funny.

It is stitched on 32ct whimsical winter jobelan by Under the Sea fabrics with dmc.  I changed the fence from white to a more yellowy wood looking colour.

My next finish is also a small fun piece... Disney Villains by Cloudsfactory.  It is also stitched on 32ct whimsical winter jobelan by Under the Sea, using dmc.

My third finish is a crochet finish... another baby blanket

I didn't feel like stitching on my other wips so I decided to start something new... I pulled out a Mira/Nora Corbett pattern... haven't worked on any sort of mira in over a year!  I decided on Geranium.... here my last progress picture... though I now have more done since this was taken... I'm working on her skirt now.

I'm stitching her on 32ct tactical camo jobelan by Hand dyed by Stephanie.

Anyways, that is all for now... till next time... happy stitching!

catching up...

It seems that all I'm doing lately is playing catch up with my blog.  I love having one, I love reading other people's blogs, I'm just getting really lazy when it comes to posting on mine.  Which is quite strange, as I have had lots of crafty goodness going on.

So apologies to all that read my blog, if anyone out there still does that I've been so very neglectful.

Now on to that crafty goodness I was mentioning!

First things first, February's TUSAL... I took my picture at the correct time, the new moon, but obviously I've failed to post it on time.  However, better late than never... here is my February ort report.

I decided that this year I will do my pictures a little differently... I will have my monthly ort jar, as well as my bigger year jar.   As you can see I did much more stitching this last month than the one previously.

I do have a couple of happy dances to show... one crochet and one cross stitch.... I started and finished an infinity scarf for my niece and here she is modeling it.  It is quite large, as it fits around her head 3x's. But she likes it and is happy with it.

My cross stitch finish is the new project I start in January... Tea Break by Jardin Prive.  I change the pinks to blues in mine and made the hearts read. Otherwise it is stitched with the called for  DMC threads and is stitched on 32ct whimsical winter jobelan by Under the Sea fabrics.

Next up I decided to give some of my wips some love... I worked on Autumn Quakers by Rosewood Manor for a week, and here is my updated progress picture of that.

Then I pulled out my Summer Bouquet by Lanarte, and sort of got stuck on that one for a few weeks (3 weeks to be exact) and made great progress.

This week I finally changed projects and as of today am working on my Cornwell Cottage also by Rosewood Manor.  I know that one is supposed to be our Sunday SAL... but sadly, the one year we finally have another person join Barbi and I stitching, life happens and the Sunday SAL went out the window.  I'm sure poor Linda is done hers already!   Anyways I hope to catch up to her soon, and finish it in the near future and then maybe we can all get back on track with a new Sunday SAL project.

Till next time... happy stitching!

belated ort report and another finish

I'm a very late in posting my last ort report for the 2015 TUSAL...  Not much in the jar, but I haven't been doing very much stitching as of late... I have been doing more crochet as I had a gift to finish for Christmas.

Here is my December tusal...

and here is my finished blanket that I was working on instead of stitching...

I'm still working on a scarf for Christmas, but I don't think that will be done in time.  However the recipient knows this and is fine, I was just hoping to surprise her with it.

catch up - crochet projects

In addition to stitching... I've also been crocheting... though not as much...

I managed to finish off another blanket, though it turned out smaller than I wanted... you can still snuggle into it, but it really is only  single person blanket... not really more than that... I was concentrating more on the stripes than the actual size... I do like how it turned out... I used a random stripe generator for the pattern.

It will be a Christmas gift for my niece, as she wanted a blanket in purples and yellows... so I used two purples and a yellow and a cream colour for hers...

I have also started 2 more crochet projects... one is scarf in greys for my other niece
'

And the other is another blanket for my other nephew in blues...  though you can't quite tell in the picture... the colours are close to DMC 930 and 932 and the third one will be a grey and will be just big fat stripes.

I know time is short... but I am trying to have both of these done for Christmas. I'll try and keep you updated on them!

catch up mash up

I've got so much to catch up on!  Here I said I would try and be a better blogger, but I just keep getting worse!  but I won't fill the page with excuses, I'll just jump straight into catching up...

Tusal...

I owe two... one for May and one for June.  I have the pictures, but as you noticed I didn't post... so here they are:

May:

and June:

As you can see lots of red and white in there!  I was working on a custom commissioned piece of a company logo for a friend and boy there was a lot of frogging before I got it right!

Here it is finished...  Just needs a bath, an iron and then we have to frame it and it is off to its new owner.

I have 2 more custom/commissioned pieces to do and then that is it for a while... deadlines and I don't mix... though they have all been very generous in regards to the time frame.

I also finished off my nephew's blanket...  so I have at least one Christmas gift all done and ready to go!

Since I have some of that yarn left, I started another baby/stroller blanket... not sure for who yet, just sort of making it....

I've also been stitching other things here and there... since today is Monday, it is also time to show of Cornwall Cottage!  I haven't been stitching on it regularly every Sunday, but I have pulled it out here and there and made some progress... not the best picture, I took it quick with my phone.

I also have a progress picture on my Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious by Sue Hillis...  Such a fun stitch... I haven't stitched the flowers yet as I am not sure what colour I want them... if I follow the pattern or pick something different...

And last but not least, here is my May portion of the 2015 calendar SAL by Palko.  I have June's square all ready to go, I just need to pick a colour.

And that is it... till next time... happy stitching!

hétfő, május 11, 2015

hello...

I'm here, I'm here!  I've been busy stitching, crocheting and with life in general, but I will admit... I've been lazy to post to my blog....I've become a very bad blogger of late, and I'm not liking that... I'm hoping to change this, so please bear with me!

I have been working on the Sunday SAL with Barbi and Linda... poor Linda must think I've deserted them!  But as I've said I just haven't posted... I was able to get some stitching in both on the 19th of April and the 3rd of May... nothing on the 26th of April as we were out of town, and no stitching at all yesterday either.

Here is where I am with my progress... almost ready to turn another corner with the inside border.

As I mentioned above, we were out of town the weekend of the 24-26 and I took my crochet with me... I started a brand new blanket on our road trip, and this is the progress I made while we were gone.

this is where it stands now...

It will eventually be a blanket for my nephew, hopefully for Christmas...this is only one panel, and since he is much taller than me, I need to still make it a bit longer before I start the second panel.
I also started another new project... I know what else is new... it is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious by Sue Hillis... I'm doing the version of the project, where it is all stitched as one long word...

I am also doing it as more of a monochrome... as seen on one of my stitching groups on facebook that I am a part of.

Here is my progress so far...

I'm using 32ct Frozen Margarita jobelan by Under the Sea fabrics, and GAST Pine and Nina's Thread in Green Mold so far...

That's it for now... till next time.... happy stitching

ort report and this week's wips...

Well on Tuesday I managed to finish off the block I was working on the Home Sweet Home 2013 SAL by Grilles du Maryse.... here are all 6 blocks I've done so far... 3 more to go.

Once I had that done, I pulled out another SAL that I joined earlier this year... a monthly calendar and verse by Palko of Palko-lap

I've managed to catch up this week with all the months I was behind with as well as the text.

Here is my progress so far...

It is stitched on 32ct Queen Anne's Lace Jobelan using a variety of different hand dyed threads...  So far I 've used Nina's threads, Weeks, and Crescent Colours... The text itself is DMC.

I also started another little crochet blanket... I've got a few more rows done than what the picture shows, but not that many....

And last but not least, yesterday was the new moon, so time to show off our orts... Here is this month's jar...

Now it is time to relax and do some stitching!  It is Sunday so that means the sunday SAL on Cornwall cottage!

Till next time happy stitching!

dancing and wips

Sorry that they are not the best pictures... but I finished off another baby blanket (stroller/car size) using a granny stripe pattern and a scalloped edge... I really love the look of both of these, they have become my favourite stitches (so far) that I have learned.

I've sent this off to Europe for my cousin's little girl, I really hope they like it!  I'm planning on giving the other one I finished away as well, I just haven't decided on who will get it, and I'm already in the process of making another one. However I forgot to take a picture of that one.

I also started a new stitching project, when I finished off my Freedom blackwork project... I started Plum Street Sampler's The Beekeeper and I've been working on it for the last couple of weeks...  here is where I left off....

the border and the lady to go!  However I have put it aside and pulled out a different wip tonight... I started the next block on my Home Sweet Home 2013 SAL b Les Grilles du Maryse

made pretty good progress on it tonight... I finished all but the middle of the block.  That will be for tomorrow...

Till next time... happy stitching!

dancing...

Wow, 3 posts in one day!!! I guess I should post more often, instead of trying to catch up all at once!!

I have a couple of little happy dances to share, one from last week, and one from last night.

I finished my first crochet project for this year... I made a little stroller blanket... it's about 30x36 inches big...  the plan is to send it to my cousin for her little girl, but I'm working on another one right now and if I can finish it in time, I'll send her that one instead.

My other happy dance that I finished off last night is my Freedom SAL by Seba designs.
It was a free pattern, but has since been released as a pattern available to buy by the designer, and the neat thing about it is, is that you get the border design, and all the filling patterns, but you get to fill the boxes in the way you want with the designs you choose.

Here is my version.  I added some beads for some extra bling

I stitched it on 32ct ivory jobelan, using DMC 3799 for the border, and one strand of Waterlilies Cherry for the filling stitches. Not sure of the mill hill bead number, but it matches the thread nicely, a nice deep cherry/burgundy colour

Till next time.... happy stitching

weekly update

Here we are again... time to show some wips...

I'll start with Sunday's SAL , which considering it was a long weekend, I didn't get much done at all...
but any progress is good progress!

I have also been working on La-D-Da's Harvest House and this is where I stand as of now...

It's getting close to a finish, but with everything going on this week, I don't think it will be now...

And one last wip... I've also been doing some crocheting.  It too is coming a long nicely...

belated tusal

Here is my tusal for this past month... a few days late in posting

As you can see... I've done absolutely no stitching!  why you may ask?? There was nothing to show stitching wise as I was crocheting!  I made a few more infinity scarves, as Christmas gifts.  Here are my last two that I made.  I have one more to make and then that is it for a bit.

I do though have some stitching to show you, as I finally found the right beads for my Soffia by AAN
I finished the stitching a bit ago, but didn't have the right beads till now... I don't mind French knots, but not when there are that many to do... plus I think the beads give it more of an elegant look

This is Soffia by AAN, stitched on 32ct silvermist jobelan by Stephanie, using Nina's threads - Steel, Onyx and Spring Grass, mill hill beads 00081 and 02022

It is one of my favourite finishes this year.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas, and I would like to wish you all a wonderful new year!!

Till next time, happy stitching!
