dancing in the snow

Just wanted to share a quick happy dance. I really enjoyed stitching this one, I just love LHN patterns. I stitched it over 1 on some mystery fabric (which I seem to have a lot of in my stash). I'm guessing its a 28ct jobelan of some sort, using just regular dmc threads. It can now head off to the next stitcher in the SAR for it.

















I've also finished the stitching on my exchange gift for the Hungarian message board I frequent. I've even managed to "finish" off one of the pieces, hubby just needs to give me a helping hand with the other part and then it can go in the mail.

Now I'm off to figure out what to work on next - new piece or WIP? Too many choices, too little time!

great mail day!

Work today was very busy, not more than normal, but the day just seemed to last forever and I was so drained when I got home. However not for long as I had mail

I got another SAR (stitch-a-round) in the mail - LHN Thread Gatherer. I've got a couple of small gifts and an exchange to finish up before I can get to this, but hopefully now that things are calming down here at home I'll have more stitching time.

















The mailman also brought a giveaway gift/prize that I won on Mercy's blog - it was an envelope packed with goodies! I can hardly wait to stitch these up! They look like so much fun - especially the Hocus Pocus one. Again thank you so much for the wonderful and generous giveaway.




















I am also part of a Hungarian Cross Stitch message board and every year they do a christmas gift exchange where they pull names, and I've participated every year for the last years so far. I quite enjoy it, though as you know I'm quite the procrastinator, so imagine my surprise when I got an envelope from Hungary in the mail! I opened it without even thinking, and I found my stitched gift inside! I didn't even think twice about who could have sent me something from Hungary, and was totally not expecting my half of the exchange to show up so early! I was so happy to see the gift and yet so disappointed in myself for having such a brain fog, as I like to save it and open the gift at christmas time by the tree. So thank you to my partner I love the gift! I will just have to find the right container/jar to put them on to be able to properly display how lovely the stitching is. For those of you who don't know Hungarian, they are stitched "lables" for your sugar and flour containers, as well as a lovely hand stitched card.



















After all this I have one more thing to share! I also have a happy dance! I finally finished off my LHN Dog House Sampler SAR. I can finally mail it on to the next stitcher. Its not a big piece, yet somehow this one took me forever to work up. Its stitched over 1 on 28ct ivory joblean. It will be a gift for someone but I still need to figure out how I'm going to "finish" it.




















note to Juls: I'm so sorry that I didn't say anything, I didn't think we would have time to even go to Stitcher's Paradise, it was a sort of last minute thing. We were there on Saturday, and there were a bunch of lovely ladies stitching at the front of the store... were you in that group? Hopefully next time (as I do want to go to Vegas again - and sooner than we did this time - we were there 8 years ago) we can meet up.

stitching up a storm

Wow the days just fly by when you aren't looking don't they! I can't believe its fall already, though I will admit it is one of my favourite seasons. I just wasn't quite ready for it yet, we hardly had a summer and here we are in autumn.


I've been keeping myself fairly busy the last little while, hence the lack of posting, as well as trying to have a positive outlook on things. Truthfully though its been difficult at best, especially when you finally think things are looking up, you go around another corner and something happens/doesn't happen that brings everything crashing down again. But we're plugging along and as I said we're trying to keep a positive outlook on things!


The last couple of weekends have helped as well, as we've been able to spend some time with a bunch of our friends, and this past weekend was one of the best so far. We really needed it, and hopefully we will be able to have/do more weekends like this in the future.



As the title of my post does suggest, one of the things that has kept me busy has been my stitching. I've got quite a bit done in the last few weeks and here is my progress on what I've been up to:

part 9 of "how does your garden grow" by Papillon Creations

















I stitched the envelope for the mail art exchange I'm in, the first picture is the front and the second the back. I've cut the addresses out for privacy. Now I just need to put the thing together (*cough, cough, I mean Hubby needs to put it together) so I can mail it out by the deadline. The front is from a JCS Ornament issue (don't remember the year off hand) by Scandinavian Stitches and the back is by San-man orginals. Its stitched on a 32ct Silkweaver Solo evenweave.

Next up is a piece that I stitched as part of a SAR (stitch-a-round) It is "Always and Forever" by LHN - one of my many favourite designers, and it was a quick and fun stitch. I did it over one, on 25ct natural pearl linen. I'm not sure but I may make it into an ornament for our christmas tree, as our wedding anniversary is boxing day!
















And speaking of christmas, last but not least, I've started working on Ethan's christmas gift (my great-nephew) who is now 9 months old - I told you time flies! If it works then these will eventually be building blocks for him. I am shooting for this Christmas, but if not then they'll still be good for next year!

Happy dance time! I just finished stitching Winter Delivery by Blackbird Designs... I still need to add the beads but haven't decided on a colour yet. There is a smaller blackbird design also included in the pattern so I am going to try and stitch that up quickly as well before sending it off to the next stitcher in the SAR.







"Winter Delivery" Blackbird Designs, stitched on 32ct SMF Cranberry using all GAST thread. (the black dmc 310 was changed to GAST Raven that I happen to have on hand). I also didn't add the date or my initials but added a few extra "snowflakes" instead.




I have also updated the look of my blog, hope you like it. I wanted it a bit more "springy" as the other template was a bit dark for the season.

My nieces and brother arrive tomorrow (today since its after midnight) and I'm so excited that they are going to be here for most of the summer! Not sure how much stitching or blogging I'll be doing in the next little while, but I will try and do as much of both as I can while they are here.
